About Brian…

Brian Ferguson is a musician and educator based in St. Louis, MO. Currently, Brian plays drums with the BoDeans, records music remotely from his home studio and operates DrumLessonsSTL.com, a private lesson studio in West County.

Originally from Waukesha, WI, the BoDeans have a permanent installation at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Museum in Cleveland as part of their Midwest Artists exhibit. The band's biggest hit to date is "Closer to Free", which was used as the theme song to the hit TV series Party of Five. The BoDeans will celebrate the 40th Anniversary of their debut record, Love & Hope & Sex & Dreams in 2026. They continue tour throughout the US, playing 40-60 shows a year.

Brian was a top call session/freelance drummer in Austin, TX for over a decade before relocating “home” to St. Louis in 2023. While in living in Austin, Brian performed/recorded/toured with a wide variety of artists including but not limited to: Wade Bowen, Robert Earl Keen, Pat Green, Jack Ingram, Cory Morrow, Aaron Watson, Stoney Larue, Eleven Hundred Springs, Adam Hood, Jason Eady, Jeff Bryant, Rob Baird and Curtis Salgado. Brian has played Austin City Limits, Gruene Hall, Luckenbach, TX, The Troubadour in LA and countless other legendary venues. He has recorded in Nashville, Austin, Dallas, Houston, Tyler TX and San Antonio. Brian has toured 49/50 states, Canada, Western Europe and China.

Brian grew up taking lessons at Drum Headquarters in St. Louis, MO and participated in every opportunity to play growing up in music program in Webster Groves. He studied at the University of North Texas with legendary drum set educator, Ed Soph.

As a drum clinician, Brian has performed at the Percussive Arts Society International Convention (PASIC 2017, PAS.org) and as far internationally as China through his relationship with Dixon Drums and Hardware. Brian’s popular beginning drum set lessons can be found in association with Vic Firth on YouTube. Brian has helped hundreds of students reach their goals whether it be making the high school drum line, success in collegiate auditions or simply have fun and learn to appreciate music at a deeper level.
